God's Leading & Directing

I've always believed that everything happens for a reason, that God is guiding me through my journeys in life.  Well, here is another great example of this.  A few weeks ago I had called my Endocrinologist asking if he would do a saliva test to check my adrenal glands.  I had found in my research that if my adrenal glands are fatigued, that could be why I was not able to tolerate the thyroid medicine.  Has to do with how your body converts the t4 (thyroid meds) to T3 (your mother hormone, aka your metabolism).  The short answer...he said "no", he would not run that test, but if after evaluating me through another office visit felt I had any symptoms that warrant a test on my adrenal glands, he would order an Adrenal Stimulation blood test.  Okay, lets pause for a moment here.  So I researched this test and it's where they draw your blood, then inject you with a synthetic hormone (HC something or other) then wait an hour and draw your blood again to see how your adrenals have been 'stimulated' by this hormone.  Okay, so doesn't really sound so bad, right?  WRONG.  Let's think back to how my body reacted to both thyroid meds and now he would prefer to do this type of test instead of an unobtrusive saliva test where I hold a cotton tube under my tongue for 5 minutes.  Really?  It really is powering to have a voice in your health care. Please, if anyone out there is reading this, if you get 2 things out of me sharing my journey with you, I hope it's these:  1. God is good and God will walk you through what ever it is if you invite him and 2. It's your body, which God created (which is why #1 is very important).
So, I had an appointment with another doctor, family medicine, to get another opinion and continued to pray for God's direction as to whom I should see and what my body (i.e. thyroid) needs to be productive again and be healthy.  In the meantime, on a Saturday I stopped in the health food store close to home and got to talking to the lady working there.  And she gave me the name of a natural medicine doctor in Brentwood.  I got his number from her and when I went home, I looked him up and he is "in network" for my insurance.  I knew this had to be from God.  So Monday I called and made an appointment to see him.  While in his office I felt very peaceful and was pleased with the fact that he saw me as a whole person and not as a hypothyroid/Hashimoto's diagnose.  Upon leaving, I used the restroom and there I saw the scripture "This is the day the Lord has made" framed on the wall.  I give credit to God Almighty for guiding and directing me to this doctor.  I thank God for not forsaking me, but walking with me through this journey.  It's not only okay that I don't fit in 'their box', it's a blessing!!
